Jason Shron

Jason Shron

President

Jason Shron is a self-described “train obsessed nutcase.” His love of VIA trains, specifically the Turbo, led him to start the model train company Rapido Trains Inc. which has since become a well-known brand in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. The seeds of the VHA were sewn when Jason purchased Edmundston in 2015 in an effort to help preserve VIA’s history as he felt that there was very little interest in VIA from Canada’s railway preservation community. This was followed by five RDCs including 6133 and 6215. When not working for Rapido or the VHA, Jason can be found working on his HO scale Kingston Sub layout.

Matt Boucher

Matt Boucher

Director

The railway has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in southern Ontario, we lived beside the CN Guelph sub, and my family in Quebec resided near the Kingston sub. I frequently traveled VIA Rail between Montreal and Quebec to visit them. My uncle, a lifelong model railroader, greatly influenced my passion for trains.
This passion guided me into a career in the rail industry, where I started as a conductor, advanced to a locomotive engineer, and eventually moved into railway management over a span of 20 years. Beyond my professional career, I am deeply invested in model railroading and railway heritage preservation.
